Gulf Wars?

So!  Who is going this year?

What are you most looking forward to at the event?

His Highness and I will of course be there; we will most likely be caravanning out there on Sunday morning to get there sunday evening.

As for what I am looking forward to the most?  Everything!  A full week of SCA and all the people involved with it!

This day has been absolutely crazy.  I've been at work since 7am as we are hosting a huge meeting today and tomorrow (have to be at work at 7am tomorrow as well).  I got a call at 6:45 telling me people were already here and waiting for me.  I got to the office at 7am and immediately started running around doing a million and one things.  This is the first moment I've had to SIT for more than 5 minutes.  The meeting goes till after 5:30 too so I'll be here late.

I have dance class tonight, that is if it doesn't get cancelled because if the impending bad weather.  It may be ok when I leave at 7:20 but its supposed to be pretty bad when I try to come home at 10pm.  Not looking forward to trying to drive in bad weather especially at night as my night vision isn't the greatest.

Hubby did our taxes last night and we are getting a sizeable return which I am THRILLED about.  Not so thrilled that some of it will go into getting the cars tuned up and really up to the task of the next 9 months.  My truck is almost at 120,000 so it is in need of a tune up and all that fun stuff you do at 120K.  Called a few places and it looked like for the 120K package, brakes and tire replacements we are probably looking at $1k in cost.  OUCH.  Hubbys car needs tires and brakes too but thankfully not the mileage tuneup.

If anyone knows a good automotive place or mechanic in the Dallas area that does this sort of thing please let me know.  Otherwise we are probably going to go with Firestone on Old Denton Road in Carrollton since we have a % off coupon.

Kingdon A & S this weekend.  I will be heading down to Houston (again) to stay at M & S's (again), this time with G, E and H.  Hope we all fit in the car, worried a bit about that.  Will be leaving at 7pm on Friday night to make the 4.5 hour drive; at least we will miss all the rush hour traffic so it will hopefully be a smooth ride.  I am really looking forward to the event on Saturday; can't wait to see all the entries.

BTW, today is our 1 month Anniversary of being Prince and Princess!  :)  I have to say what a wonderful experience it has been already and I've only really been to half of an event.  But behind the scenes all the emails and times I have been pulled aside in person where people tell us how excited they are and offer to help doing anything and everything... its so wonderful.  I can't thank everyone enough.  :)

Here are some pictures I found from this weekend:

Is it the weekend yet?

Again, I had a weekend where I hardly stopped moving long enough to sleep. :p It was fun though! I am ready for this weekend though even though it is busy busy again; at least I will get to sleep late both Saturday and Sunday which I didn't get to do this weekend.

Friday night Hubby and I went over our friends G & J's house for a surprise get together for J's bday. M & C were over there too; it was alot of fun! Had some delicious steaks and yummy veggies and dessert was chocolate birthday cake. We then played some video games and after that spent the next several hours playing 'Spoons'; an awesome card game which involves violence and shots. lol. Hard to explain; you'll have to play it sometime with the Portos. Left there around 12:30 and got home and went to bed.

Was up before 8am on Saturday to clean and organize the house a bit before people started showing up for the sewing day. K & H were the only ones that showed up at 10am and we all got right to work. H got her Cote pretty much done with direction from moi so that is a good thing. Those cotes are tricky to sew when you are first doing them, heck they are still tricky to sew even though I've done a bunch. I worked on my own sewing too; got pretty much a teal silk cote finished all the way to sewing the buttons which I still need to do. At least I got the buttonholes in; 40 of them. I hates the buttonholes, yes I do!

There ended up being 6 people over the house at one point plus myself and Hubby so it was a good turnout after all. Got alot done. Started closing down the day around 4pm and the last person shut down at 5pm. Went out to dinner with a few friends and then hurried back for Hubby's 'Poker Knight'. He invited a bunch of Knights over to play poker and they all started arriving right away. K and I headed out to a bellydance show which was ok but about 2/3rds of the way through it I just CRASHED. Left before the last two acts and came home and went to bed. I was done. :p Woke up briefly when people were leaving from the Poker Knight and said goodbyes then went back to bed.

Got up early again on Sunday to re-organize the house from Poker to sewing again as I had two more people coming over that couldn't make it on Saturday. I also finished edging the cotehardie I was working on, I forgot to edge the inner sleeves so finished them that day. Taught G how to make her own tunics, thankfully she is a really quick learner and has taken to sewing really well with minimal help from me! Very proud of her! K came over too and I made a pattern for a war company tabbard for her man for her to make later because she had just gotten the fabric for it and wanted to wash it first. After that we all headed out to Steppes fighter practice to see our men do their thing, stayed there for quite a while. It was cold! Eventually came back to the house to wind down and get ready for today. Went to bed pretty early as I was wiped again.

Today has been busy at work so far, lots of meetings and prep for said meetings. Thankfully the rest of the day is quiet, hopefully it will go by quickly. Tonight we are heading out to R & S's for a class on the award system of the Kingdom and how it works; we know the basics but are obviously going to need to know it back and forth so we decided to go. Tomorrow I have dance class. Wednesday I am going to A's house to try on some cotes and see about planning for future projects. Thursday I am heading to R & T's house to hand off a project. Friday is Entourage 101 at our house; hoping to meet with everyone and get on the same page on the 'how to's of following us around. Saturday night is running around with G in the morning and then a birthday party at B's at night.

Wow. That made me tired typing everything. :p I'll sleep in November. :p

Satine from Moulin Rouge 's Oriental Gown

Something I started in 2007 I am finishing up.  All it needs is closures, lower sleeves and a leather waist cincher (that I am commissioning rather than making).  The gown is made from hand dyed by me red silk with velvet embossing overlaid with black chiffon.  VERY not fun to wrangle into the sewing machine correctly.  :p

I most likely will be putting this aside for a while but I am happy with the progress I made, especially happy I had enough trim for it.

Working on the new sca Kingdom Herald Tunic and a burgundian will be started for me soon too.  I think I might make one or two for Gulf War if I have time.
